Doug Flutie Not Wanted

Doug Flutie's experience during the recruiting process was similar to Super Bowl quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Both were good high schools athletes in football, basketball and baseball but received little attention from Division 1 schools for football. Like Kaepernick, Flutie received only one offer...and boy did he make the most of it. He made Boston College proud with his accomplishments.

*Walter Camp Award

Just goes to show there are a number of good high school prospects who fall through the cracks in the recruiting process.

Without question. This happens all of the time. The draft, like recruiting in College Football, is little more than a crap shoot.

Junk, I was in Birmingham's Legion Field back in 1984 when Flutie led Boston College to a
38-31 win over Alabama. The little guy ran around like he was playing backyard two hand
touch. I know Bama coach Ray Perkins was impressed because that's all he talked about
the next day on his TV show.

If I'm not mistaken, he beat Alabama in 1983 in a home game. The dude was fun to watch.
